Yuezheng Longya, the brother of Yuezheng Ling, will be given a V4 voicebank! A male Chinese Vocaloid was confirmed a little while ago, but we now know that it will be a voicebank for Longya. Developed by Shanghai He Nian, he will be the first male Chinese Vocaloid, as well as the first male Vocaloid in the Vsinger (originally VOCANESE) series.
Not sure what Vsinger is? Allow me to bring you up to speed!
Developed by Shanghai He Nian co. (originally part of Bplats), Longya is a character who is part of the ‘Vsinger’ project. ‘Vsinger’ refers to a series of Chinese characters, made up of Vocaloids (including Luo Tianyi, Yan He, Zhanyin Lorra, and Yuezheng Ling), and supporting characters. Artwork and animated episodes around this group of characters have also been created in the past.
Most of the characters within the Vsinger series gained their designs through ‘VOCALOID CHINA’ contests, in which fans would submit their own designs, with the winning entry becoming a Vocaloid, and the runner-ups classed as supporting characters. As a lot of us know, Luo Tianyi was the winner of the first contest, held back in 2012. Longya was a runner up, alongside ‘Mo Qingxian’, ‘Zhiyu Moke’, and ‘Yuezheng Ling’. Another contest was later held in 2013 to determine China’s second Vocaloid, which was Yan He.
As I mentioned above, for a while, Longya was a supporting character in the Vsinger series, but was revealed today to be receiving a voicebank, making him the first male Chinese Vocaloid, despite being a runner-up design.
Longya’s design was created by Yayin, and was re-drawn by illustrator Ideolo. His voice provider is currently unknown.
